World Agriculture Production Needs to Double
April 8th, 2009From the Financial Times, the UN has put together a document highlighting the need for a lot more food production:
“It warns that global agriculture production must double by 2050 for the world’s fast-growing population to have enough to eat and to deal with the effects of climate change.”

Prices need to rise to encourage more food production and more technological investment needs to happen as well, so yields rise.

Yes, let’s see more technological investment, particularly in the satellite guidance systems of a certain Canadian company. Unfortunately, with fuel and other input costs low, there is less incentive for farmers to shell out for this stuff now.
